1. Introduction

Pathfinders Youth Ltd maintain this Statement of Purpose and Function in accordance with the requirements 2023 Supported Accommodation Regulations. It describes the aims, objectives and ethos of the home, how services, staffing and care practices are provided. The homes can provide support for up to nine young people of mixed gender and works on a mixed model of supporting looked after young people and unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people. Pathfinders’ accommodation is for looked after children and care leavers only. Each young person has their own bedroom, and they share communal areas.

The following principles underpin the service:

 

  • The support needs of young people are the first consideration in all decision making and that their opinions are valued and considered regarding service delivery.

 

  • A commitment to anti-discriminatory/oppressive practice and the challenging of discriminatory behaviour in all its forms.

 

  • Clear placement planning, evaluation and outcomes reflects an ambitious service that seeks to work collaboratively with other agencies the local authority.

 

  • A commitment to consultation with young people, parents and care professionals enables us to regularly inform, review and deliver best practice.
